Shopify blog and content hub on your own domain

Shopify keeps products, cart and checkout. We add a separately managed content system for articles, guides and language versions, served on your brand domain through CDN path routing, with canonical tags, hreflang and sitemaps under your control.

01

One domain. Two systems. Clear responsibilities.

ShopXN designs and deploys a main-domain content infrastructure alongside your Shopify store. Shopify continues to handle products, carts, payments and checkout. A separately managed content engine handles publishing, multilingual content and search-facing pages. Edge routing brings both systems together under the brand domain.

02

The system we build

Domain and edge routing
Map existing URLs and reserved commerce paths to their owning systems. Define routing priority, origins and failure recovery without casually changing established URLs.
Independent content engine
Design the content model, templates, publishing workflow and technical SEO controls. Content releases do not need to share the storefront theme release cycle.
International publishing infrastructure
Design language routes, equivalent-page relationships, canonical and hreflang generation, with editorial review for the actual target markets.
Measurement and operations
Connect page-level search and analytics reporting with the agreed member and inquiry workflows. Keep operations, access and data responsibilities explicit.
03

Architecture, implementation and handover

Architecture package
Path ownership, system boundaries, data flows, environment requirements and integration responsibilities.
Working deployment
The agreed CMS, routing configuration, templates and integrations, tested against actual public and authenticated paths.
Operational handover
Access handover, publishing instructions, monitoring, backup and rollback procedures, plus the agreed maintenance scope.
04

When this architecture fits

For brands that need independent content operations, multiple markets or integrations beyond a storefront theme. The first assessment checks existing constraints and whether this system is a justified investment. Shopify SEO is an application of the infrastructure—not a substitute for the system we deliver.

Not sure you need a second system yet? Start with what Shopify’s built-in blog can and can’t do, then compare ways to serve a content folder on your Shopify domain, Shopify and WordPress setups, and headless Shopify versus a separate content system.

05

Commerce remains a protected boundary

We do not replace Shopify checkout. Domain and edge configuration still require controlled changes and compatibility tests. Availability, indexing and rankings are separate outcomes; operational acceptance is based on tested behavior, not promises.

What the content system needs to manage

Start with the content objects your team maintains, then decide on templates and editing tools. Article content, product facts and page metadata are different data responsibilities; competing editing screens should not silently overwrite each other.

Content and pages
Define article, guide and collection-page structures, editors, sources and revision records. Preserve imported originals and agree which content may be maintained in the new system.
Metadata and H1
Assign one authoritative editing source per URL. H1 is also visible page content: changing a database field alone does not establish that the page has changed.
Shared components
Identify which pages depend on navigation, footers, templates and media. Preview affected pages before updating a shared component.
07

Agree languages, markets and URLs separately

An English page is not necessarily US-only, and a translation does not establish that a product is sold in that market. The implementation must preserve those distinctions.

Language versions
Agree the source language, target languages, reviewers and how source changes trigger review. Do not invent equivalent-language URLs when translations do not exist.
Market scope
Identify the intended audience and markets. Product prices, availability and transaction facts remain owned by the appropriate commerce system.
Release checks
Verify that language switching reaches the equivalent page, navigation retains context and canonical, hreflang and sitemap output match the actual pages.

A workspace and an implementation are different deliverables

A workspace defines how your team maintains and reviews content. An implementation defines where and how that content is served safely. Live-site integration requires separate agreement on access, scope and acceptance; a successful save in an editor is not proof of publication.

Confirm the deliverable scope, integration permissions and acceptance criteria before the project begins.
